Dragon Bones: Cleaning Demo
- What is Dragon Bones Cleaning Demo?
This demo is designed to demonstrate the Fossil Cleaning System, designed for the currently in development project: Dragon Bones. Cleaning is the process in which you carve fossils out of the rocks they hide in. You are provided with three tools in order to accomplish this: an x-ray, hammer, and a drill.
The x-ray allows you to see the fossil trapped in the rock.
The hammer allows you to break through the toughest layers of rock. However, if you use it too much, you will potentially break the fossil.
The drill allows you punctured holes through the rock and (if you are not careful) the fossil.
When you're finished playing the demo, please answer the questions below with your most HONEST opinion.
1. How was the quality of the button response?
2. How was the quality of the hammer?
3. How was the quality of the drill?
4. How do you feel about the amount of time available to clean the fossil rock?
5. We're there any noticeable bugs or glitching?
6. How do you feel overall about the cleaning system?
7. How do you feel about the fossil durability?
8. How do you feel about the rock durability?
Fixed the following bugs:
- Fixed rock durability.
- Added slight adjustments to the drill.

The only real thing that stood out to me in the update was that in the partially exposed rock, i was able to hold the drill in one place and rack up a good score, which is a step in the right direction since it shows the drill does affect the rock now
Good to hear. I'm hoping I can continue in this direction as development continues
1.How was the quality of the button response?
The switching between the drill and the hammer worked well, the switching was easy and felt streamlined to me.
2.How was the quality of the hammer?
the hammer was just an odd tool, it seems to quickly break the first layer, 100% struggle with the second, then utterly destroy the actual fossil. Though if thats from a strong hammer or weak fossil is almost uncertain.
3.How was the quality of the drill?
The drill was just weak. Even just using it to click i struggle getting through the weaker layer, as if the drill didn't even register on the rock
4.How do you feel about the available amount of time to clean the fossil rocks?
Honestly the time felt really good. more than enough time to clear a fossil.
5.We're there any noticeable bugs or glitches?
When i used the hammer, switching the spot i was breaking down it was like the hammer would follow the cursor between clicks, like catching up while hitting the areas in-between the first and second locations?
6.How do you feel about the cleaning system overall?
It seems like it'd be a really neat system, why change what works yeah? But, the x-ray button is odd, as it looks likes it is always clicked in the display rather than activating when you click it.
7.How do you feel about the fossil durability?
It was just weak really, plain and simple, but with the drill it could be indestructible. I played a few different times just breaking the rocks to see how strong they were and the durability is eh at best.
8.How do you feel about the rock durability?
It seemed like the parts of the rock were flipped. The first layer was soft and destroyed rapidly, while the second layer just wouldn't crack, but any exposed fossil would get damage.
Overall this was a real cool demo, and I feel like the final product will be fantastic. Good luck on the rest of devo!
I feel bad, but you did ask for honest, so...
1. How was the quality of the button response?
Lagged a bit; more noticeable with the hammer, where I would click somewhere else, but hammer where I was previously.
2. How was the quality of the hammer?
Overall too powerful after fossil is exposed
3. How was the quality of the drill?
Generally pretty weak, where holding it might be less efficient than click-spamming
4. How do you feel about the amount of time available to clean the fossil rock?
Could definitely use more time
5. We're there any noticeable bugs or glitching?
Any damage would cause the blue gauge to go down, but any/all damage is kept regardless of how well the fossil is cleaned.
Once any part of the fossil is exposed, the rock durability is weakened significantly but is reset if you switch tools. (This is probably the biggest issue)
6. How do you feel overall about the cleaning system?
The setup is good, but it was extremely difficult to get a successful clean.
7. How do you feel about the fossil durability?
Extremely fragile and very inconsistent; some areas would break at the slightest touch, others could be drilled into directly with no issue for a good few seconds.
8. How do you feel about the rock durability?
It's hard to tell how far you have carved into the rock, so it is difficult to judge the durability
I really want this to work out, so I hope my feedback, harsh as it is, will help things to improve!
